Jeanne Harding was educated at Reading University, where she gained a BSc
Honours degree in Food Science, subsequently she gained a
Postgraduate Certificate in Education (with a special
commendation) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education
Management.
After
an early career in the Food Industry with Rank Hovis
McDougal Research, she became a Lecturer in Applied
Science at Thomas Danby College, Leeds and, after
maternity leave, continued her career gaining progressive
promotion at various Colleges in Leicestershire and South
Yorkshire. Mrs Harding became Vice Principal at Huddersfield Technical
College in 1995 and was promoted to be Principal from 1998
to 2003.
Jeanne has strong beliefs in the pivotal role which general further
education colleges have within their communities, and
their influence in the cultural, educational and economic
life of the community. Commitment to widening
participation, the inclusiveness agenda and economic
regeneration are key issues for her.
She is married and has 2 grown up children.
Her personal interests and hobbies include: Gardening, walking, cooking
and travel – in 2002 she fulfilled a life-time ambition
to visit the Galapagos islands.
Jeanne
looks forward to a positive and productive working
relationship with Dudley College’s Student Union.
